How to compare water heater quotes

The total price is the last thing to compare. First make sure each plumber is pricing the same job.

1. Match the water heater

Compare type, capacity, exact model or equipment level, and warranty. A cheaper quote may simply include different equipment.

2. Keep extra work separate

Shutoff valves, leaking pipes, venting, electrical work, or other repairs can hide inside one total. Ask for those items separately when practical.

3. Compare what the price buys

Confirm equipment, labor, removal, warranty, and service. If one plumber supplies a professional-channel model and another uses a retail model, ask what the difference means for you rather than comparing brand names alone.
